I kind of was glad that Mike had my truck. It gave me a chance to talk and ride with Bird. I needed her, in more ways than one. I needed her ear to listen, so I could unload all the dirt that I’d done and how it had caught up to me. I needed her to be my sister like she always was and tell me that even though I’d fucked up and was in a bad predicament that she still had my back. I prayed she wouldn’t lay any harsh judgment on me. I know personally since she has been the woman on the other side of the coin, she of course feels some type of way about jump off bitches, but if she loves me like I think she does, her reaction should still reflect that love. As far as Deidre was concerned, I love her too and I could tell her, but Deidre has the tendency to say dumb shit to piss you off sometimes. She calls it being frank or keeping it one hundred, but sometimes that shit just comes off as rudeness and bitchiness as far as I’m concerned. And this decision for me is so major, I would probably cuss that bitch out on some real shit if she came at me sideways. I’ve had two pregnancies in my life and I have never thought that I would be the chick getting an abortion. But I am not about to be a Maury statistic who don’t know who her baby daddy is. I’ve done some ratchet shit, but fuck it, that’s some shit I don’t want on record. This shit is gone be between me and Bird and the damn clinic. I sat in her passenger seat antsy as hell as she was wrapping up talking to Deidre about her Vanilla Bean boo. I can’t say I am shocked that Deidre is getting her swerve on via the swirl though in all honesty because Raymond was mixed, so hell she has tipped one foot on the other side already anyway. I am a little surprised that he is young as hell and is her boss’s son though, that shit is crazy, talk about a risk taker. I don’t know about the office sex shit, ya know. What happens when you want to stop? Shit be all awkward and weird, but you still gotta work together because you got a job to do.

Bird came to the car still giggling and semi tipsy from our night. She was still crunk and on ten, so it took her a second to recognize that I had turned down, past zero and was slipping into the fucking negatives.

“What’s wrong melancholy mama”, Bird asked with a giggle, still turned up.

“I need to talk to you about something”, I said and of course my tone and demeanor carried the weight of the seriousness of my situation.

Bird pulled the car over into the K-mart parking lot down the road from my house and listened as it was me who was filling her ears with ratchetry.
